Winning for the defendant for 18 years!

Charges Dropped After Trial Against Father Defending His Family (Case # 2008-047863):
The defendant here was initially arrested for first degree murder after he shot his daughter’s boyfriend during a late-night confrontation. After a trial that lasted nearly a month, the jury was unable to convict the defendant of even involuntary manslaughter, and a mistrial was declared. The government then dropped the charges against the defendant altogether and the case was dismissed. The Simi Valley Acorn, a local newspaper, covered the case.

Not Guilty of Attempted Murder Despite Sheriff's Eye-Witness Testimony (Case # BA014456):
The defendant in this case, an LAPD mechanic, was charged with attempted murder after an off-duty Sheriff’s deputy allegedly witnessed him shooting a man in the head while parked along Angeles Crest Highway. The victim’s car went over an embankment and plunged 200 feet down a mountainside. Miraculously, he lived – but the bullet did take out the alleged victim’s eye. Nevertheless, Carlo Spiga obtained a Not Guilty verdict on attempted murder and the defendant, who was looking at life in prison, was released with time served.

Not Guilty on False Molestation Charges (Case # BA322456):
In this case, the defendant was charged with the molestation of his three daughters. At trial, his daughters each testified to the terrible things their father allegedly did to them. Through intensive cross-examination and expert investigation, it was revealed that their mother, bitter over their pending divorce, had put the daughters up to accusing their father of molestation. The jury came back with Not Guilty verdicts on all counts. The defendant, who was looking at 20 years in prison, was released with time served.

Not Guilty: Cross-Examination Reveals So-Called Robbery Victim Assaulted Accused.  (Case # SA01551-01):
Here, the defendant was accused of robbing a man of his watch and money in a Santa Monica parking lot. The defendant had several prior convictions including convictions for robbery. At trial, cross-examination by Carlo Spiga revealed that the victim had actually assaulted the defendant and then lied about the robbery to police. Verdict: Not Guilty.

Not Guilty: Felony Assault (Case # Confidential at Client ’s Request):
Here, the defendant was a bartender from Santa Clara County who was charged with felony aggravated assault causing great bodily injury after breaking the face of a patron who picked up on his girlfriend. The jury returned a Not Guilty verdict on felony assault in less than a day.

Not Guilty of Attempted Murder Despite Four Taped (alleged) Confessions (Case # SA039395):
In this case, the defendant made four separate taped confessions that he shot his best friend in the face after discovering the friend was dating his girlfriend while the defendant was in jail. Charged with attempted murder and a host of gun crimes that would have given him a sentence upwards of 40 years to life, Carlo Spiga obtained a Not Guilty verdict on the attempted murder and hung the jury on the gun charges. The defendant was ultimately only convicted of the lesser offense of mayhem and escaped serving the rest of his life in prison.

Not Guilty on Assault Charges by Unstable Girlfriend (Case # PA032964):
The defendant in this case was charged with aggravated assault on his girlfriend. Because he was a "second striker,” if convicted, he was looking at around 15 years in state prison. Carlo Spiga beat the case through exacting cross-examination of the girlfriend and testimony from neighbors about the girlfriend’s erratic and unpredictable behavior. The jury came back with a verdict of Not Guilty on all counts and the defendant was set free.

Not Guilty: 3rd Striker Acted in Self-Defense (Case # VA074689-01):
Here the defendant was a three-striker who was looking at life imprisonment over the stabbing of two brothers who attended a party at his house. Carlo Spiga obtained a Not Guilty verdict by proving that the defendant was in fact acting in self-defense and was not deserving of a criminal conviction. Representation by Spiga & Associates saved this young man from spending the rest of his life in prison.

Not Guilty: Carlo Spiga Causes Corrupt Cops to Crumble on Cross-Examination (Case # LA055298):
This defendant was a three-striker, again looking at life in prison after police found several guns in the bedroom closet of his home. Carlo Spiga won this case by showing the jury the corrupt and over-reaching behavior of the LAPD and convincing the jury that their testimony could not be trusted. Once again, the verdict was Not Guilty on all counts.

First Degree Murder Charges Dismissed After Two Trials (Case # YA039471):
In this case, the defendant was facing over 50 years to life in prison for the machine gun slaying of a DEA informant. The alleged victim gave four interviews, two of them videotaped, all identifying my client as the shooter. After one hung jury and one mistrial for prosecutorial misconduct, the government dropped the murder charge and our client escaped having to spend the rest of his life in prison.

Not Guilty: Prosecution Witness Crumbles Under Cross-Examination (Case # BA340970):
Here, the defendant was a three-striker who was looking at life in prison because a repo agent had accused him of ramming her car with his high-powered truck. Carlo Spiga won this case through his cross-examination of the complaining witness and the prosecution’s accident reconstruction specialist. The jury returned a verdict in less than an hour finding the defendant Not Guilty on all counts.

Not Guilty: Rape, Innocent Teen Goes Home to Family (Case # Confidential – Juvenile Defendant):
The client here was a juvenile charged with taking part in a gang rape in a high school bathroom. Carlo Spiga won the case at trial when a videotape uncovered by our investigator revealed the victim had lied about her activities immediately before and after the alleged rape. When confronted with the evidence, she admitted to the court that she had made the story up so she wouldn’t get in trouble with her mother. The client was released from juvenile hall that day.

Hit & Run Charges Dismissed (Case # 2010030197MA): Here, the client was a college student who was facing hit and run charges in Ventura County.  Spiga & Associates attorney Grace Ayers contacted the alleged victim of the accident and obtained a declaration from her, absolving the client of further liability and requesting that the criminal charges be dismissed.  After only two court appearances, Grace Ayers was able to have the case dropped and the client's record remains spotless.

Not Guilty: Domestic Violence Allegations by Erratic Girlfriend (Case # PA00000):
This was another felony Domestic Violence case where the defendant was looking at several years in prison because he had three previous convictions for domestic violence, all involving the same woman. Again, the defense was able to show the jury that the woman and alleged victim was erratic and violent. The jury found the defendant Not Guilty on all counts.

There are many more cases just like these, where Spiga & Associates have saved people’s lives through expert representation and zealous advocacy. Unlike most lawyers who give a laundry list of cases in which they obtained a run-of-the-mill plea bargain for their client, we have chosen to only show some, but not all of the cases that Spiga & Associates actually won. The results in these cases are not a guarantee of future results but instead should serve as an example of what can be achieved through excellent Lawyering.
